How do you keep healthy?

I work out at a small local gym near my home fairly regularly. If I don’t exercise I do not feel good at all . I don’t always want to – but I go anyway. I am an introvert and would not do well at a large gym … being in a smaller environment and seeing familiar faces makes me feel connected .

What is one thing you do to maintain your work-life balance?

To maintain my work life balance I am constantly analyzing what I’ve done during the week and how I’m feeling . I avoid scheduling too many evenings out during the work week . I get fresh air as often as I can . At the start of every week I prep healthy lunches and snacks to bring to the clinic ahead of time . I schedule my workouts with my Trainers a week ahead of time and don’t let anything get in the way of those commitments.

What is the biggest challenge that you face in maintaining your work-life balance?

The biggest challenge I face is time and energy ; just like everyone else . The demands of being a Physician are changing and on top of the extra time I’ve always spent documenting patient encounters and completing insurance forms I am now spending more time than ever on EMR data entry.

What is the best advice you have received to maintain your wellness?

The best advice I have received to maintain my wellness was to plan my holidays well in advance and have a break to look forward to approximately every few months.
